FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What types of massages are available?
Heidi is trained in a variety of massage techniques. Your massage will be a custom experience based on your requests and what your body needs. Techniques range from deep tissue massage to Swedish (relaxation) massage, to hot stone therapy and Reiki treatments. Learn more on our Rates & Services page.
What are the benefits of massage?
Massage is a great stress reliever for mental and physical stress on the body. Discover the many benefits of massage here.
Where will my massage take place?
Your massage will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room with dim lighting. You will lay on a massage table with soft, clean linens, and soft music may be played in the background. Heidi's Therapeutic Massage is located in her country home between Whitehall and Pigeon Falls, just off Highway 53.
Do I have to be completely undressed?
Undress to your comfort level. Most massage techniques work best with direct contact with the body. The therapist will leave the room to provide time for you to undress and lay comfortably on the massage table covered with a sheet and blanket. For a reflexology session, only socks and shoes need to be removed and long pants can be rolled up if needed.
What do I do during a massage treatment?
Relax and make yourself comfortable. This is your massage session. Feel free to close your eyes, focus on the soft music, and request more or less pressure as needed. Heidi will move you (such as lift an arm) or let you know what is needed (such as roll to your back).
What parts of my body will be massaged?
Prior to your session, Heidi will discuss which areas you would like to focus on. A full-body massage includes back, neck, face, head, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Heidi will customize your massage and can focus on areas per request due to injury or tight muscles.
What will the massage feel like?
Massage therapists use a variety of techniques including light strokes to relax your body and rubbing strokes with applied pressure to ease muscle tension. Specific points may receive stronger pressure to release tight muscles. Request more or less pressure at any time during your session. Massage oils and lotions will be used to facilitate the massage.
